I have seen several requests of the matter, but I would like to be more specific:
Every investment like stocks and bonds has few basic characteristics:
They are divided by units and valued per unit.
Each investment is calculated by the amount of units bought with the unit’s value at the purchase moment.
When selling, the same thing happens: you sell per amount of units and not by the price amount you want.
But in addition, you get taxed on every sale based on the taxation in your country of residence and investment’s type (if you have lost the value of the units you sold you can get a deductible tax amount but that I think is irrelevant for now).
What I suggest to be integrated into the app for now:
Create a new account type called “Investments Account”
In the creation process of the account there should be the usual Information requirements like name and maybe initial amount.
The unique part is the following information: initial unit amount, current value of a single unit that then calculated the total amount.
Optional: add a tax policy of the account (like in my country for stocks is 25% on the profit and for bonds is 15%).
Then, for starters, the user can update the unit value when they want, especially before they make a transaction.
After creating the account, at the account’s page, the transaction should operate differently then the usual transaction: there should have a prompt with the following:
Date
Type (buy or sell)
Unit’s amount (which are bought or sold)
Unit value
Account location (the checkins account that “gives” or “receives” the transaction total value.
Then, when buying the transaction should operate should appear at the account location part as “investment” or something like that, and when selling the amount should be divided into two:
net profit
Taxed amount (that can be edited later)
This is the vary basic way I thought you can implement this. Thanks in advance!!
